Camino’s Cellar Door Fest Debut – A Milestone Moment

From January 31st to February 2nd, we were proud to join the vibrant line-up of producers at the Adelaide Convention Centre, and showcase our wines in the Emerging Producers section. It was a milestone moment to share our wines in our home town, where my winemaking journey and Camino first took shape.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came by the stand to say hello, taste the range, and share a story or two. It was such a pleasure to connect with fellow wine lovers, industry peers, and new friends throughout the weekend.

One of the highlights of the event was being invited to speak on the panel for Nick Ryan’s masterclass, “Meet Your Next Favourite Wine: SA’s Newest Stars.” It was a real privilege to present alongside other exciting new producers and to share the philosophy behind Camino with such an engaged audience.

The standout wine of the weekend was the2021 Camino Paradigm Vineyard Shiraz. This wine holds a special place in my heart. It’s sourced from the Paradigm Vineyard on Seppeltsfield Road in the heart of Marananga, a site I co-own with friends. These vines are between 80 to 100 years old and grow in red-brown loams over red clay, laced with shattered ironstone and quartz. The result is a wine of depth, complexity, and pure Barossa character.

In the glass, you’ll find dense notes of blueberry, blackcurrant, plum, and juniper, layered with hints of liquorice, vanilla bean, and mocha chocolate. The palate is rich and full-bodied, offering flavours of black plum and raspberry compote, grounded by graphite and framed by velvety tannins and savouryoak. It’s a wine with presence, yet the balance and finesse mean it’s equally enjoyable now or after many years in the cellar.

If you missed us at Cellar Door Fest in January, don’t worry — we will be back for the Winter Edit on 11th and 12th July and we’ve got more events lined up throughout the year. In the meantime, feel free to explore the Camino range online or get in touch if you’d like to chat wine.

Thanks again for being part of the journey — we’re just getting started.
